Warwick's girls volleyball team had the satisfaction a year ago of winning a first-round game in the league playoffs, but the Warriors barely missing out on the District 3 playoffs is adding to motivation for this year.

"I think we're always motivated," says Burr. "Us in particular. We want it. We want it more than any year."
"None of us are playing club this year, so we want to end on a good note," adds Karissa Abers.
Last season saw the team winning consistently the early part of the season, "but then obviously we didn't win the section," says Kira Abers. "So I think that we have room for improvement."
Twin sister Karissa sees trust as a key strength. "Trust is also a big thing in volleyball. You need to trust that that person is able to make that play. I feel like we have a lot of trust in each other."
Coach Claire Flood, in her first year after a year at Columbia, expects a big turnout among freshmen for this year's team. "The middle school program has been really helpful in developing our program in talent and in numbers."
Neither coach nor players were willing to predict a section winner or a key opponent. "I think it's whoever we're playing that night, honestly," says Burr.
