Garden Spot cross country coach Traci Tempone (right) was looking to fill out roster spots as practice got underway for the season. She was hoping enough runners would try out for the team so the "Spartans can compete in the section and make a run at Districts."

Members of the team joining her at Lancaster-Lebanon League Media Day at LNP | LancasterOnline were Seth Lantz (left photo), Emerson Moore (left in right photo) and Mariah Sensenig.  The runners have similar goals. Lantz says he "wants to qualify for Districts." He's been running over the summer.

Sensenig says "the team is small and close knit, but it is working hard and the goal is to make Districts." She also runs track.

Team members say they're ready to make a strong run once the season begins and are hoping to add some depth to the talent already on the course.
