This spring Frank Lucarino, Solanco senior, returns as the top performer in discus for the Lancaster-Lebanon League. Last year
he earned a Silver Medal in the L-L meet.
Frank competes in discus and shot. His personal records are 151 feet, inches in discus and 49 feet, 11¾ inches in shot. His goals, respectfully, are 180 feet and 55 feet.
For the Golden Mules, Frank says in all sports Lampeter-Strasburg is their rival, though Warwick, the reigning champ in Lancaster Lebanon League Section 2, looms as well.
Frank played nose guard and defensive tackle for Solanco’s highly successful football team last Fall. Solanco ended their season as
Silver Medalists in District 3, Class 5A.
In the off-season, Frank trained in the weight room and competed in winter track. For a new experience, he entered a competition
called the Weight Throw (heavy ball with handle) … allowed over the winter, however not PIAA sanctioned in spring track.
In school, Frank excels in math and belongs to the Varsity Club. The club reads to elementary students and encourages them and
middle school students to participate in sports.
Next Fall Frank will study Sports Management at Immaculata University.
Frank’s athletic goal in track and field is to qualify for the Olympics in discus.
