Donegal is looking to improve its 1-9 record from last season in Section 4 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League by building the team from the trenches, and they've got one of the best teachers and coaches around for that goal.

Former New York Jets and University of Miami Hurricanes lineman Joe Wysock is helping coach the Indians. Wysock is a member of the McCaskey Sports Hall of Fame after starring there in the late '60s. He went on to MIami and then to the Jets, where he was a teammate of Joe Namath and John Riggins in the mid-70s. Wysock says his time in New York was a "great time. He enjoyed being teammates with Namath and Riggins, two of "the all-time greats."

Wysock went on to coach at Stevens Institute of Technology. He's looking forward to working with the Indians, bringing linemen to the media day hosted by LNP | Lancaster Online at its downtown Lancaster office to connect local media with Lancaster-Lebanon League football players and coaches. He says "communication is key to great line play."

The players who entertained themselves playing video arcade games such as Whac-A-Mole in between interviews included Dawson St. Victor (in photo), Owen Winters, Ryan Cantero and Parker Foye. Cantero says "the team's goal is to make the playoffs, and it starts upfront."

Winters says the "team has been working hard in the off-season, lifting weights and working out." They've been getting ready at Spooky Nook with workouts.

Winters says, "It's going to be important to be determined and focus on every possession." Donegal's head coach is Anthony Sottosante. The Indians open at home against Middletown on Aug. 22.
