Zach Spangler earned Section 2 Player of the Year honors in leading the Barons to the section championship.
"Our goal is to repeat and win the section again. Individually, I'd like to get to 10 wins," Spangler said at the Lancaster-Lebanon League Spring Sports Media Day, hosted by LNP | Lancaster Online at Penn Medicine Park.
Spangler's coach Kurtis Funk also won Coach of the Year honors. Spangler says, "We have a strong bond as a team and that translates to success on the court. We support each other."
Spangler says he likes to play singles and doubles. He enjoys coming to net to volley. "I try to stay engaged during matches, keep my cool and if a lose a point, not to get down," Spangler said.
He says Carlos Alcaraz of Spain, currently ranked Number 1 in the world, is his favorite player. He loves his "power and shotmaking" calling it "awesome.”
Spangler says one of his best moments on the court was "an upset win in a match against Central York."
His favorite subject in school is Economics, and Spangler hopes to major in business in college. He's looking to attend Lancaster Bible College.
