Garrett Aukamp, sophomore wrestler at Solanco, says his team’s quote is “How you do anything is how you do everything!”
This quote encourages his teammates to “push each other” to be better and to develop a good team chemistry.
Garrett sees his Solanco team as “young in age, but not in experience.” Several wrestlers return from last year's team as letter winners.
Garrett’s record at 107 pounds as a freshman was 23-11. This year he moves up to the 114 class and plans to improve his fifth place finish in the Lancaster-Lebanon League sectional meet, which was one step below qualifying for
Districts.
This year his individual goals are to make Districts and qualify for States. He also wants a shot at an LL section championship.
In the off-season Garrett weight trains at Solanco’s wrestling building and wrestles with teammates. Prior to this season, the Solanco team did attend a wrestling camp at Bucknell University. And the team held its own camp, called “Camp Rubicon … I Came, I Saw, I Conquered.”
Garrett is a 3-sport athlete playing golf in the fall and baseball in the spring.
In school, Garrett takes academic classes with math as a favorite subject. He also is a member of the Student Senate.
For a career Garrett plans to either enter a trade school or apply for admission to the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.
