J. Freeland Chryst Award
Known by many as "Lefty," Walt Kauffman dazzled baseball fans with his southpaw talent on pitching mounds throughout southern Pennsylvania during the late 1920s, 1930s and into the 1940s.
Although in 1932 he signed with the St. Louis Cardinals, his greatest achievements in pitching were during his years playing for such Lancaster County teams as Rubinson's Store of New Holland, The Paradise Chevies, and Lancaster's Belmont Club of the Roaring Twenties.
He led the 1931 New Holland club to the Tri-County League championship.
