Ken Riley was at the forefront of bringing Little League Baseball to Lancaster. Ken attended a baseball sign-up in Pottstown to assess the Little League philosophy and how to possibly bring Little League to Lancaster. Ken was sold on the concept with the hope and desire to get kids at all levels involved with baseball.
He was the founding father of Conestoga Valley’s East Lampeter Little League as well as the league’s first president. He helped develop coaches as well as procuring and maintaining fields. He helped the organizers of Little League baseball in Lampeter-Strasburg, Warwick, Garden Spot, Elizabethtown and Pequea Valley as the introductory contact. He also helped with the Pottstown Little League program and their Police Athletic Field.
Riley coached Lancaster Catholic’s varsity baseball team for four seasons, leading the Crusaders to their first sectional crown. He continued to support Little League through 2015.
