Bob Nonnenmocher, or ”Noony," as some called him, was well known around the Lancaster area for his love and life-long passion for the sport of baseball.

A left-hander, he pitched two no-hitters during both his sophomore and senior years. Upon graduation from McCaskey High School in 1955, he immediately signed a contract to pitch for the Kansas City A's in their minor league system.

In 1958, he signed with the Detroit Tigers, before enlisting in the U.S. Army, playing baseball while stationed at Fort Dix, after which he went back to Detroit's minor leagues. He also played in various amateur leagues

Nonnenmocher was a member of the Lancaster Old Timers Athletic Association, serving as its chairperson for several years. He was a board member of its successor, the Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame.
